I am currently working on a new openings repertoire! I feel like I need one because in my past several games, I keep getting caught in the opening!
My previous opening played mostly the Scotch Gambit with white and several 1…c4 variations with black. With my new repertoire, I will be sticking with the Scotch Gambit, but with black I will be adapting the Pirc Defense (1…d6). The reason for this being is that the Pirc Defense provides excellent counterplay to virtually every white opening.
As before, I will be using Chess Position Trainer for openings training and repertoire management. However, I will input new positions into the repertoire after every game, so I will learn positions as they appear. Hopefully, this will improve my openings play.
thanks for the scotch gambit the other day on playchess.com. It was very much in the spirit of the opening …..sharp. I don’t think I would make that Knight sack again however.
it like many of my sacks was a little suspect.
Welcome to the Knights.
Yeah, the Scotch Gambit is very aggressive and tactically sound if played correctly. You actually transposed the opening into the Two Knights Defense with 4…Nf6. From that we went into some areas I hadn’t practiced before that game
I made a few tactical blunders over the course of that game I doubt I will make again
. For example, I could have probably saved the game with 39.Rb1 instead of 39.Qf3 >.<
I don’t have a fixed opening repertoire. With white, c4, d4, e4… But i’m focusing on d4, which gave me positive results =]
With black I like the Dutch Defense but it definitely doesn’t fit my play style… I don’t know how to play Dutch, Sicilian, King’s India Defense…
So i’m very bad aheuhau
But my new tactical skills after the circles will help me to handle such openings =]
Talked too much >.<
Thanks for add me! =]
Samurai is moving, so he’ll stay some days away from net.
I like the Evans gambit a lot with white =]
1.d4 almost always leads to positional play, meaning you are less likely to arrive at situations you are practicing with the circles.
Do you play on PlayChess?
Actually 1.d4 can always lead to a tactical game… as is the case for me ;]. Every opponent I play (with me being the white pieces) thinks I’m a positional player… then about 11-12 moves in, I’m sacking pawns and pieces and before they know it’s mate. Works like a charm. I look forward to playing you sometime. Maybe on FICS if you have an account.
I believe I sent you a message on FICS, but you never replied
My account is WCopeland.
I can’t play on FICS T__T
my ip and e-mail aren’t allowed =\
Yeah, 1.d4 can lead to tactical play =]
I’m playing with Nemo on Chess.com…
